PRE-PAID CONTRACTORS LICENCE

DOES YOUR CONTRACTOR HAVE A PRE-PAID CONTRACTORS LICENCE?

Deciding to undertake any type of renovation to your home is a major decision and one that shouldn’t be taken lightly or hastily.  Whether you are looking at redoing your kitchen or replacing the windows and doors in your home, there are certain steps you should take to ensure that you and your family get exactly what you are looking for.

Before you give any type of deposit to your contractor the first step is making sure they possess a pre-paid contractors licence.  A pre-paid contractors licence is mandatory for any contractor who is taking any type of deposit before the work is completed.  This licence ensures that you are protected as a consumer, to qualify for this licence you must post a bond that secures the deposits taken.

You must also have a contract approved by Service Alberta that outlines certain aspects of the job such as; Commencement date of work, completion date of work, Buyer’s right to cancel policy and among other things.

This contract is for your benefit and should be kept until all the work is completed and all warranties have run their lifespan.  If a contractor does not have a contract and does not have the pre-paid licence, think long and hard before proceeding.

Capitall Exterior Soluitons went through the process of getting a bond to receive this license. Our contract had to be approved by the government so that we are able to receive a deposit from our customers.

You can always check Alberta Services Website at http://www.servicealberta.ca/1254.cfm or feel free to contact Capitall Exterior Solutions with any questions regarding your current or future exterior renovation needs.
